Elements needed for creating a loyal customer base

Everything runs on something or in other words there is always some fuel that is needed to drive things. Before we go exploring what drive digital marketing, let’s look at some key terms:

Hits – The number of times a user has clicked a link to your website.

Impressions – The number of times your web ad is been seen on the user’s screen.

Geotargeting – This is a method of determining the user’s location to display area specific ads.

ROI – Return on Investment. A tool used to find out the profit made by investing resources to generate sales.

The fuel or the most important element that drives digital marketing are people who are using the electronic devices to stay connected on the Internet. Traditional marketing uses a push method in which a product or service is being shown to a person and then he is being pushed into at least looking at the features of the product or worst into buying it even when the person has no interest in it. Push marketing can also be digital where ads keep popping up when a user clicks on a link to open up a page completely not related to the ad.

Since digital marketing is still an evolving field, the people’s mindset is changing constantly. More and more smart marketers are creating trust rather than forcing people to buy things. Some of the most common mistakes that advertisers in the digital world are doing are as follows:

  • Users will never forget the names of advertisers who use the push method to sell things.
  • Users don’t want to be bothered with more ads when they are on your landing page.
  • Smart shoppers are constantly looking for discount codes, coupons or offers.
  • Smart shoppers like to compare similar products or products of a different brand name.
  • Singing praises of your products can be off-putting to users.
  • People need time to decide on things that they find interesting.
  • People are more interested in getting information about products or services rather than buying it.

In all of the mistakes that I have mentioned, there is an important lesson to be learned. Tailor your service or product towards the user. Making things easily accessible is key here. A digital marketer has got all the tools to make a great presence on the web. A successful company would allow a user to do the entire research for a product or a service on its website and the user only leaves the website when he/she is completely satisfied with what it has received.

There are things that are important to know about your website. First of all, Google Analytics and Google Adwords lets users to monitor what keywords are generating more ROI, how many hits are they getting on their website, how many times does your website appear in search results. You can even choose the demographics as to where to do you want your website to appear in ads more frequently and you can even choose the hours of the day when you want your ads to be seen.

My next blog post will talk about the key ingredient in creating trust with your target audience. Comment on what you think is important in creating trust with your potential buyers which will generate a free advertising resource!
