Did I capture your attention with that title? Now hold on one second, I was just trying to prove a point. And that is, that if you have a catchy title, it will make readers want to read more.

For those of you who have been following my blog will know that all I talk about here is the different elements of digital marketing and how you can, perhaps, learn a few nicks and knacks here and there and improve your presence in the digital world.

Blogging, to me, is the best medium to communicate wholeheartedly with your followers and you can let them know of what you or your company has up on your sleeves. A kind of behind-the-scenes feel or the-making-of-something-wonderful!

Effective corporate blogging is increasingly being implemented by many companies and they are lapping up the results of that. It’s all about engagement. The more you talk to people who are interested to hear what you have, the more you will be building up your loyalty scale. People love to read. With the increase in the upcoming slogan in the arena of digital devices that BIG (screens) is better, it is much easier for bloggers to write bigger articles that people can read on the go.

Not all of us love reading. Some of us prefer listening to reading and most of us would prefer to watch a video. To incorporate all that, you can have a podcast and a Youtube® link right here in your blog, so that you are reaching many people at once.

Corporate bloggers, take note here. You need to make effective backlinks and the way to do that is to submit your blog to blog directories like EatonWeb, Toplist, Blogged etc. You can also discover blogs according to different interests here.

An effective blog is the one which fulfills the WIIFM factor for the person who is reading. The content has to be meaningful and useful. Statistics indicate that B2B marketers generate 67% more leads by using blogs!

For personal bloggers, you can make money too out of blogging! You do need to have an audience who are viewing your blog though for it. If you are using blogger, Google allows you to place ads on your blog and it will pay you for the number of times a person has clicked on it. You can also include advertisements from your companies of interests and rent space to them.

All in all, blogging is a great tool to spread information, experience or just plain gossip or movie plots!

Enjoy your day. Until next time, where I will be giving a hands-on experience about how two different marketing techniques can be merged effectively to help promote your brand!

#FLIT – The Spread of Thoughts Through Social Media (Part 2)

Social Media #1 Activity Online

Dare to disagree: We are all using our mobile phones to take photos and selfies and share it with our loved ones. We use our mobile phones to check game scores, update statuses, like or post a comment, check our mails and reply to them. There is only rise in using our mobile phones to stay social and be connected.

This demand will only see a rise as mobile phone makers have only fueled people’s needs by introducing newer models with more features of staying online.
I am going to explore these two social media platforms that many people access through their mobile devices.

Instagram®

“A picture speaks a 1000 words”. Instagram is a trending mobile photo sharing tool. With the rise of new words like “selfies” and “photo-bombing”, it’s no wonder that photo sharing is the singular most effective way to connect to people around the globe. It uses geo-targeting and helps individuals and businesses promote themselves or their products by tagging people, keywords and locations. Users can also post short video clips to attract attention.

Instagram lets you adjust your privacy settings. It also lets you use different types of photo filters and video editing tools. I have seen many business and individuals post production videos, photos, promotions and events and establish their business from Instagram. This is the second most used social media platform enjoyed by celebrities and many influential figures to give second by second updates to their fans using mobile phones.

Individuals and small businesses who are looking to set up a link to get people look at their products or services should definitely give it a try. They have an amazing blog site that help businesses share ideas and thoughts.

Twitter®

The name itself brings a big smile on everyone’s faces. With Twitter, you don’t have to write stories to say what you are doing what’s happening. A tweet can only be 140 characters long. This added challenge lets people think about the important bit of information they want to share with the world. It is the most powerful social media platform on which you can literally witness the entire process of tit bits turning into major headlines.

A recent example is “What colour is this dress?” which became an epic sensation and became a news headlines. There is a lot of migration happening on social media. The dress colour was initially a question asked on Tumblr (Another social media platform) which quickly “migrated” to Twitter and gained worldwide recognition.

I recently joined the Twitter universe. It is an extremely powerful tool in connecting like-minded people and being enlightened by the vast amount of information. I had no trouble in connecting with the industry’s Greats. The thing that happens is that I go looking around for inspiration on Twitter and after a few minutes I not only get inspired but get saturated and eventually over-whelmed by the immense amount of information. HootSuite® and TweetDeck® are two tools that can help bring some calm to this chaos. Check how a 23-year old is making $500,000 dollars a year by Tweeting random facts on Twitter.

Here, I would like to say that every platform has its own benefits and shortcomings. If you are an entrepreneur and you want to kickstart your business, it’s better to stick to one social media tool that you think will work best for you and use it to its fullest potential before indulging into another one.

In my next blog, I will discuss on how to do effective blogging and the hurdles that you may face.

Social Media is the ultimate tool that helps you in digital marketing. Dispersing the news at the right time on the right channel can make a huge impact to your business. Facebook®, LinkedIn®, Instagram® and Twitter® are some of the most common social media channels that are accessed by people and businesses alike to promote or to buy. I am unveiling a new term here that I checked on Google® and it hasn’t been coined yet.

To FLIT – Using social media (Facebook®, LinkedIn®, Instagram® and Twitter®) to spread your ideas, sales or thoughts.

Let’s look at these social media channels and see the capabilities of each.

Facebook®
There are two different types of accounts that can be created. For an individual, you create a page. This social media channel helps you stay connected to your friends, family, and other acquaintances. They can share photos, videos, links and other posts. They have privacy rights over their posts. They can also create apps and share them.

For businesses, you create a group. It is geared towards letting members know about the latest news, launch dates of new products, promotions, contests etc. To become a member, you have to either ‘Like’ a page or in some rare cases ‘Ask to join the group’. People like to visit company groups to look at earlier posts, timeline to see how the company has developed or evolved, location, contact information and most of the time to look at their photo albums showcasing the products.

LinkedIn®
A site that lets individuals and businesses to create an online resume to showcase their skills. LinkedIn members use this social networking site for business opportunities, by providing them the ability to share, communicate, and interact with each other by blogging about different business strategies, as well as conduct marketing, recruitment, and sales activities on their platform.

You can get recommendations from other members of your organization or field and it is the 1st place any recruiter looks for hiring purposes. Many multinational organizations use this site to post job opportunities. It is very important to update your profile and get recommendations as it helps build trust with other people looking at your profile. Here are some tips on how to things to know about LinkedIn that appeared in TIME® magazine.

In my next post, I will continue dwelling on the two of the trending social media used by nearly everyone just because it is fun and easy to set up on their mobile devices.
